Thinking about plasti dipping car

Thinking about doing it just to protect my paint for the next few years until its paid off then repaint and fix the cars outside dents and clear coat.

I did read a forum on it and I was curious does it wash off easily or do you dip it then clear it? Im not to familiar with this kind of paint.

Ugh. I absolutely loathe the look of plasti-dip. It looks so cheap and hateful.

no no nooooooo

"Plasti-dip" like you get at Home Depot is not what those guys use.

I can't even imagine how hard it would be to repaint a car that's had plastidip soaking into it for 2 years, you'd probably have to rip it all down to the metal. Even then, a real, full paint job costs you $5000 at least.

Just go bonkers with the 3M Paint Guard film. It works. As wear shows, just replace parts. That's what I do. On my 08, my front got all rock chipped (as they do), so I just sanded it down and repainted it. Total cost was under $100.

Or, you can get yourself an OptiCoat kit which is full ceramic coating that actually works. Use it on your whole car.

Dont do it, make it hard to resell. Get a proper paint job if you want to do something.

Actually, that ended when the price of a used Evo dropped below $15k.

I wouldnt dip the whole car, I think it makes any car look cheap. But, to answer your question it is kind of a pain in the *** to get off. They say the thicker you apply it the easier it will peel off but that never seems to be the case. No need to clear. Washing the car will be a pain too, water tends to leave marks that show up on it.

friend of mine has his E46 M3 done, and its been that way for a year. Its held up great, I cannot comment on how its going to come off, but any of my experience with the stuff is, its easy if its thicker coatings.

Everyone has their own thing, if you wanna do it, do it, but a lot of people dislike the stuff.

Lol ok you don't have a 100k car so don't talk to me about what other people do. If you blow 100 grand on a car then plastidip it your either 1, retarded or 2, so broke from paying your payment and insurance you can't afford a vinyl wrap that'll run you like 3k. So you go hey let me go to pep boys and spray my HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR with 40 dollars worth of plasti dip. Lol I can see plasti dipping a car who's paint is shot, but doing it for the look or protection; stop being a cheap *** and go get your **** wrapped.

Giving u the facts there chief what does me having a 100k car do with anything. You said it isn't a Honda. Implying that this is something done to cheap beater cars.

I corrected your ignorance and informed you that there are countless very high dollar cars that are dipped.

I prefer dip to vinyl wrap any day much easier to work with IME

To add: As to your number 2 folks who buy 100k cars generally don't have car payments and if they do they don't worry about then or their insurance. Really dude?? Man it's like talking to children on here anymore
