Thinking about plasti dipping car
Giving u the facts there chief what does me having a 100k car do with anything. You said it isn't a Honda. Implying that this is something done to cheap beater cars.
I corrected your ignorance and informed you that there are countless very high dollar cars that are dipped.
I prefer dip to vinyl wrap any day much easier to work with IME
To add: As to your number 2 folks who buy 100k cars generally don't have car payments and if they do they don't worry about then or their insurance. Really dude?? Man it's like talking to children on here anymore

The potential damage to paint is less of an issue than the fact that it makes the car look like a Happy Meal toy imo. Plastidip looks cheap and ugly regardless of whether you are driving a Honda or a Bugatti.
The plastidip haters come in two categories. The ones who are entirely uneducated about the product, and the ones who just simply don't like the finish ( and the fact that it is tough to clean). I can handle the second group.
Plastidip is entirely safe for your paint when used correctly, is entirely reversible, and is a viable option for someone who wants to play with color change without dumping 5 grand on a legit paint job. That said I have seen cars that were done well, and cars that were clearly rushed and look like garbage.
Will I dip my whole car? No, but it works awesome for faded trim panels, rims, etc.

Lol ok you don't have a 100k car so don't talk to me about what other people do. If you blow 100 grand on a car then plastidip it your either 1, retarded or 2, so broke from paying your payment and insurance you can't afford a vinyl wrap that'll run you like 3k. So you go hey let me go to pep boys and spray my HUNDRED THOUSAND DOLLAR CAR with 40 dollars worth of plasti dip. Lol I can see plasti dipping a car who's paint is shot, but doing it for the look or protection; stop being a cheap *** and go get your **** wrapped.

We've recently had a few shops now that do this... it's usually around 5-6 layers and it's sprayed just like it were a paint. My only issue is that if you go a different color, the door jams and engine bay are not done, which does IMO give it a "cheap" look.
For those that say it "looks cheap" must be talking about the matte or flat finish. And yes, many high end car companies like Lamborghini, Maserati and BMW are now providing matte PAINT finishes for some of there cars straight from the factory. For those that are up to date with just how far this "trend" of plastic dipping has gone, you can now have your car dipped in gloss colors, metal flake, and just about any paint job you can think of, in just about any color you can think of. Like stated it's like a paint job for under 1k without paying the higher end price for paint, and it's temporary... if you don't like it, off it comes.
In my opinion, it looks nice on some cars and not so much on others... I've seen matte green Hondas and matte black Evos done up... but you have to see it in person. As someone like myself who details cars, the option of a vinyl wrapped or rubber dipped car is intriguing in that you no longer require polishes, sealants or waxes to maintain the look of the car. It's just a simple wash 1 to 2 times a week with a simple wash and maybe a light pressure washer.
I've seen three cars done up by this new shop, and unfortunately all in matte finishes: a matte black Nissan Titan, a matte blue Audi S4 Avant and a matte white Lexus IS 350... The Lexus looked the best out of all of them. But, as a junior detailer, I don't think I would opt to "dip" my Evo or any of my sports cars. If I had 6-700 dollars burning a hole in my pocket, I might attempt having my daily driver done up, just to see how it looks... but for now, I'll just sit back and watch all my friends "plasti-dip" there wheels...

I'm sorry but it makes the car look cheap !! Finish is horrible up close , I'm old school I guess and want my car to actually shine and look like someone other than my 5 year old painted it.
The factory Mitsubishi already uses is bad enough lol.
Some cars can pull it off. I like the gtr pictures above but like others said that's more of a high end coating that is specifically made for automotive paint.
I could never just dip my entire car. I've seen wheels that were plasti dipped for a year and they looked terrible and were a pain to clean over time.
