Plasti Dip/Paint Rims --- Opinions?
So while I'm waiting for my car to have a new transmission put in I've had a lot of time to plan on what I want to do to the car.
I'm defiantly blacking out the grill/trim, painting calipers red and tinting windows to about 50% all around. Also I have a Carbo Fiber Evo X Spoiler on the way.
My big questions is.... I'm planning on plasti diping or painting my wheels.... (This is temporary until I get my rims... wife said I got to wait since I just got the car )
Here are my opitons:
1. Plasti Dip
2. Paint Black with Clear Coat (Red emblem in the middle)
3. Plasti Dip & Paint over with Black and Clear Coat (Red emblem in the middle)
4. Don't do it!
I have the titanium color Ralliart. There are pros and cons to each of these...
1. Plasti Dip is easy to take off BUT looks dull and matte
2. Paint looks very nice with gloss but I hear it chips easy and can't really go back
3. Plasti Dip & Paint over it seems like the best way BUT i hear it's really hard to take off and it might look weird over time with the Plasti Dip Fading (Not sure if paint would be effected since its over the plasti Dip)
4. Safe Zone but Boring Zone
Thanks for the input in advance!

I've put plastidip on different things and went over it with a clear coat. I used duplicolor wheel clear but I don't know how well it will peel off later. It gave it a nice shine but not as much as paint would do.
Oh I got a better idea... sell or trade the rims to someone that wants the titanium and do whatever you want with the new ones. I got some 16" dsm swirleys laying around. LOL

I plastidipped my GTS wheels and it held up well, looked decent, and kept me happy until I traded the car in. Pictures of how it looked here: http://9glancers.com/index.php/topic...msg161324.html

I wouldn't count on plasti-dip for a long lasting finish.
It's prone to chipping (moreso than paint). I've had my nose ring plasti-dipped for 2 years, and just recently resprayed parts of it because of all the chrome spots showing through from rock chips.
I'm sure a wheel would get chewed up as fast or quicker than the nose ring.

I want to give it a try. Like i said this is temp solution until I get my wheels that I want.
Main question stands though do I paint/clear over the plasti dip or forget plasti dip and just paint the wheels

Just about anything you do will end up looking like doo doo after a few years and need touching up or redone. Powder coat holds up pretty good but thats not really a temporary solution.
Are you going to throw on clear?
How about the 16' swirleys? They have good tires on them. Tempting huh. :P
