Are there specific aftermarket inserts or replacement pieces for the inner "walls" of the Evo 9 wing sides to make them cf? Or are people using carbon overlays or are they just painting them plain black instead?

Pretty much, it's not worth. Just get an 8 wing if possible and call it a day. Otherwise, you have to REALLY want the look to mod a 9 wing. ***

 

Well the one you showed a picture of is an evo 8. Evo 8's have full carbon wings and just the exterior portions are painted. Evo 9's wings are fiberglass or something on the sides, only the center portion is actually carbon. So if you want the carbon inside on the wing. You have to look for an 8 wing. They are also stronger as well

 

Sorry, forgot to point that out in original post... Yes, I'm aware the 8's were the only fully carbon ones. I saw on a previous thread the differences between the 8's and 9's. Would be nice to have the stronger center piece rather than the hollow one that’s in my 9 now.

I was more curious as to if that side piece could be removed easily and replaced or if was relatively sealed in place. If sealed and I want to get the carbon look there, the only way is to place some ugly carbon vinyl on it (which I wouldn’t). Otherwise, just paint it black to darken it but it would lacking the full carbon look.

The evo 8 wings are exposed carbon fiber on the inside of the uprights. (FROM THE FACTORY) If the insides of the uprights are body color, you have a 9 wing.

If you want carbon fiber on the insides of the uprights, Get an Evo 8 wing.
