Gauge install solutions

Hey guys,

I have some defi gauges that I will be replacing in my evo 8. they will be going above the climate control unit (boost, pressure, a/f). they are sweet gauges but fit a little loose into the pods. I do not want to super glue them in (something about that doesn't really work with me) and I don't want to silicon it in either due to same reason as super glue. I know some folks use it and it works fine for them, but I'd rather not go that route with my expensive gauges.

Therefore, I opted to use electrical tape around the gauges to get them snug into the pods. Is this the best way to fit them in? Is there any alternative way? Thanks, i'll post up a pics of my gauges here soon =)

I mean I wouldn't say it's the "best" solution. But if it works, it works! You're the only one that will know it's back there anyway. Might just want to make sure it's secure so when you do a pull they dont come flying out. That used to happened to my radio.

hmm....

yeah it's pretty snug and i did a few pulls and it didn't budge so it's definitely in there. gluing it in kinda eliminates the possibility of removing it in the future and replacing them with some other gauges while keeping the setup clean.

clean, that's my motto =)

In my opinion that is the only way to get them to fit when they are not snug.

I used athletic tape and the normal gauge mounts (autometer and maybe others have them). holds the gauges perfectly snug
