2003 Evo 8 possible fuel pump problem?

I'm new to this site, just stumbled across it looking for some possible answers.

but anyways,
went to drive to town yesterday. driving normally, and out of no where the car started just bogging out. i was in 1st gear around 3k when it started bogging down.

it'll rev to 4k before it cuts out. wont take off and drive.
if you try it just sputters.. kinda like fuels cutting out.
i'm thinking it could be the fuel pump.
but a second opinion would be nice.

car is damn near stock,
bigger intercooler, turbo manifold, full exhaust, manual boost controller,
and a retune.

any possible ideas?

Squirrely... welcome.

Fuel pumps can fail intermittently, or they can slow when voltage drops, but in general, they just fail. What type of fuel pump are you running?

This sounds a bit more like a boost leak to me, but I'm not there. Evo's also seem to have issues with vapor lock because of heat soak, and I'm guessing it isn't exactly cool down there this week.

Do you have a way to check pressure, or an AFR gauge to see if you're leaning out?

I actually figured it out yesterday, dumb mistake on my end.
I had checked all the couplings on the intercooler piping and they were all attached, but I had this same problem with another car.. And I was almost sure that's what it is, well, I didn't check the connection directly at the intercooler, which is where it had blown off. Got it fixed now.

But thanks for the reply!!
