check engine question

my friend he just bought a evo 9 RS today and he calls me and we meets at his house. when we start the evo i look on the that dash with the miles are and i got suprise that the check engine light doesnt come on also the plug under the dash for the codes when you plug something you need to move it so it can work . any help on this. thanks guys.

Do you mean during the start up sequence it does not turn on? Could be disabled in the ecu or something.

Or burned out.
I change out burnt SES bulbs regularly for people. When you drive a car that more than half of the owners just wail on them and mistreat them, you find the SES light on more often than any other bulb in the car.... and you know brake lights etc burn out.

sorry for the confusion but is wen you put the switch on. We going to check the bulb. Also what about the plug under the dash for the codes of the vehicule you need to move that sometimes to make it work

Loose connection? Go under there with a flash light and see whats up. It's just a couple of wires, either they connect well or they don't. If you wiggle it and it works, there is a connection problem (loose pins, damaged wire, etc).
