Tilt and Slide Sunroof will Be an option!!!!
Hey guys!!
For those of you wishing to have the sunroof option for the first shipment of lancer evo 8's here you go:
Steve,
Thank you for you interested in the Lancer Evolution... While the exact specification and details are not yet public, I can promise you the wait will be well worth it. In regards to your inquiry about the sunroof, I can tell you we have made power/tilt sunroof available as a optional equipment for job#1.
Best regards,
Bryan Arnett

Sorry man, i hope my first one doesn't have the waste of money option. I have one in my car and it is only used on hot days to keep the car cool and dry incase it rains.
I'd rather put the money towards performance and not killing the rigidity off my car.

Why would people be wishing for a sunroof in an EVO though. The whole point of the EVO is to have a top notch performance car. Why would anyone want to diminish the performance?

Whatever the euro spec Evo has is all it needs, trust me, I've seen the cars
Interestingly, the spec sheet refers to some items being the same as "NAS Evo8". I presume NAS stands for North American Specification. This is only against 2 items, the firts of which is the roof antenna. The second is going to upset you guys. It seems you are getting "Front RECARO semi-bucket seats" rather than the full bucket seat on the current 7.
Hope this helps.

Mitsubishi have developed a spec for the euro car, which would gain euro type approval. And you wouldn't like it. I have the Mitsubsihi spec sheet in front of me. You wouldn't like the 236 ps / 33.1 kg-m output engine (needed to get thru EU type approval) or the small rear spoiler, again for type approval reasons.

Regarding this 236 ps version: Why so weak? Didn't the Evo 7 FQ 300 get thru EU type approval? Why couldn't a similar Evo 8 do that?
And could you PLEASE post that spec sheet up!?!?
None of the Evo 7's have been put through EU type approval. They are allowed into each country under local import rules. In the UK, the have to go through a UK Government test which is far less stringent than EU type approval.
In fact, the FQ300 wouldn't pass even the UK test. The basic RSII is tested and the parts that make up the FQ300 extras are officially an aftermarket accessory!!
The reason that a car for EU type approval has such low power is to get it through the emmission rules. I don't know if thsi is a pointer for the US or not, so I wouldn't start panicing yet
Regretably, I cannot post the spec sheet otherwise it would be very clear who had given it to me and that would get them into deep trouble. Hope you understand.
