Leather Option?

My dad is thinking of buying an EVO (he's over 50 and thinks EVO's rock ), but he was wondering if you can get a full leather interior from the dealer as an option. Im not just talking about front seats... he wants front seats, back seats, the whole deal. If the dealer does have this option, how much would it cost extra? And if not... are there any aftermarket companies that will do this?

Thanks a ton

To my knowledge the 04s come with a leather front seat option, but the seat isn't completely leather. Also if he wants that much leather he is gonna have to get it custom. Tell him to check out the g35 if he is that stuck on the leather. Hot car with leather heated seats and such. Damn decent for performance too.

Thats what side bolstering is for Besides, I don't think he will do much hard cornering, he will use it as a daily driver.

no leather option on the 03 but the 04 will have this. you or the dealer can always get custom leather but usually like 4-5 thousand not worth it.

Not just "leather".

Connolly leather cows had a very specific diet formulated to create the best hides. The cows were washed regularly to keep the hides in good shape. They were kept in special controlled areas without barbed wire and to limit insect bites which will definitely mar the hide. Even after brushing and dipping, you can see where a scuff, cut, or an insect bite was. And once a month or a few times a year each cow got a full "skin treatment" (moisturizers, etc.) to help keep the hide in tremendous shape.

Think "Club Moo-ed".

Alas, Connolly went out of business, so Rolls, Bentley, Ferrari, and Jag have all had to go elsewhere for "primo" quality hides.

Ferrari has gone with a top Italian furnature maker to produce their leather. (The joke is "Canoli leather?")

But Ferrari seats are deeply bolstered, and you sit in the seat, not on in. (Buying one of the limited edition supercars (F50/Enzo) includes a trip for a seat "fitting".) You also sit about five inches off the road with your legs almost as high as your bum. Great for the track. Where the $$ comes in is making such a position comfortable for cross-town or cross-country driving.

The EVO has impressive handling for the price, but the ride is harsh, the interior is cheap, the seats are basic. Not all the price difference between an EVO and a Ferrari is in the name.

But I credit with not trying to do a supportive seat on their own. They went to the pros: Recaro. They got the entry level unit, and I wasn't impressed with the seat, but I figured just about any other Recaro should mount on the same rails. (Of course, a top end ErgoMed DS in leather would run $2500 per.) But the stock seat's not so bad, once you get used to it. It's no Connolly clad racing bucket, but it's adequate for a winter car.

Of course, there are those who insist that, for the price of an Enzo, you should get a seat cover woven from the hair of scantily-clad virgins.
... Redheads, of course.

Any dealer CAN make their own options. I have seen pics here of an Evo with leather as a dealer option. I would say call around to dealers and find out if they are willing to work with you.

And there are plenty of aftermarket companies that will do this, there is probably even a local business near you that will do it.
