I bought an EVO IX recently. Car came with a Greddy Exhaust and a catalytic converter on it. The seller included a test pipe.

I've got no emissions to worry about, but as the car is right now it is not too loud. Instead of putting the test pipe on, can someone recommend a muffler OR resonator that can go where the cat/test pipe would go that of course won't lose a lot of HP.

If I lose a few HP, that is fine, I prefer quiet more than an extra 2-5hp.

 

Do you currently have an oem cat on? You can get a high flow cat. Minimal hp loss and it will still be quiet. I have CBRD O2 housing and down pipe, perrin hfc and greddy ti and imo its just right sound wise.

 

im using an ebay resonated test pipe, not to loud with my perrin. i used this one, bolted up fine.

Yeah, OEM cat. I found a vibrant resonator online that I think will work well. Not too expensive, either.

 

you can put on a magnaflow 19 inch muffler which I hear is pretty quiet. I got a muffler from Megan exhaust it sounds pretty nice not raspy but deep since I got cams.

 

I had a SARD high flow cat on my 6. Emissions friendly and not to loud but not to quiet either.

 

Thanks all. I think I am going to go with a Magnaflow 3" straight through in place of the cat. The car already has a resonator. This greddy is pretty quiet, but a tad bit more stealth never hurt.
