never in a million years will 10k get you into the 8xx range and allow the car to be somewhat reliable. (i still lol to myself when I say 8xx and reliable)

This would be more of an attainable number if the dog gear sets weren't 7-8k depending on exchange rate.

a well built 5spd speed can easily hold 800... no need for dog boxes... also reliability goes out the window the further you deviate from stock... my car was bought new and stayed stock for 3 years... since then it has spent more time down then up. i get about a month before adjustments or repairs need to be made... my tcase, trans and diff are solid... mostly bolts vibrating loose from solid mounts and no balance shafts or valve train adjustments or the worst is turbo blow by issues... it doesn't help that its constantly being modified either... on this build i'm hoping to make 720+ on my ef4 but its not looking good... its cost me upward of 15k this time and this is build 3. 400 cost me 8-9k, 600 costs me 20k up front and 3-4k more following, and i'm building on each one. rather then removing and buying more parts... i have had 2 exhaust mani's 2 sets of cams, and upgraded from stock to green to ef4... other then that i haven't double spent on any parts...

this build was completely by me... as well as the first... the second was done at MAP and then a lil more by me... also i include everything done as part of the build... not just power adders... rims, hood, brakes and such are included...

Again, you're not adding up all the little things. I'm at $6k for 300 whp. But that includes tuning items, intake, exhaust, IC, fuel, wheels/tires, suspension, brakes, etc. Going fast takes a lot more than a turbo kit.

800+ is 30k if done right with supporting mods. Trust me when I tell you those little things add up quick. And that will get you a motor rated at 1000+. I never understood why ppl will have a motor built to withstand up to 800hp and push it to 800 and expect it to be fine. Its pushing it to the limit and only a matter of time before something fails.

I'm in an X not an 8 or 9 but the basics still stay the same. Also an MR instead of a GSR but what the hell...

I'm currently undergoing a pretty massive build for an MR. Just about everything has been built on the car, it is going to be one hell of a street car when finished. Looking at around 550 - 600whp on 91 as that's all I can get access to here.

I added up the entire build cost last night for the first time and I just about cried - I'm at $39,600. This includes all of my power mods, labor, vinyl wrap, suspension, wheels, transmission, CF aero bits, gauges etc.

Aside from pro time attack cars I'm probably getting close to one of the most expensive Evo X street car builds taking place. It hurts, but it should be pretty much bomb proof at 600whp and fun to drive every day.

I could have ~$17,000 and just built the motor and put a huge turbo on it with an SSP clutch kit but the chances of that lasting more than a season without something going boom is pretty slim. I've gone way over the top with custom stuff on the build, but it's awesome.

I've got a build thread on the other forum as this forum kind of pooped on my thread here for it not being on topic for a few posts. Dropped it after that.

Yah, it sucks. So does the 4 months my car has been gone. I've dumped that money into it without even seeing the damn thing in ages!

Suspension and tires isn't cheap either to be honest. Guys who time attack without a tire sponsorship are easily spending thousands each weekend.
