Cost of making Power.

So what is the cost of making Power on E85? Knowing that as you make big power you also need to upgrade fuel pump, driveshafts, transmission, transfercase, etc etc.

400WHP- ($3,000 ESTIMATED) Evo 9 turbo (used), cams, 1200cc injectors, walbro 255l, intake, turbo back exhaust and a Tune.

600WHP- ?

800WHP- ?

1000-1200WHP- ?

IMO, from seeing a few build thread on here, each 100whp is roughly $5, 000

That sounds incredibly high. With an aftermarket turbo kit alone and injectors and pump you could be well over 500hp

700+whp will definitely see $20k+ with labor and parts... EASILY!

I would say that the first few horsepower are relatively cheap and easy, but the Law of Diminishing Returns will kick in hard and fast, meaning that the marginal cost of each extra horsepower will continue to rise.

I would add: horsepower is cheap. Strength costs money.

You're both leaving out a lot of money in supporting mods.

This is what I was trying to get at, first 200hp/tq are easy. After 550/550 gets expensive

10k can make almost any power level if you are frugal. You will spend a lot more if you build incrementally. Buying multiples of the same parts will kill a budget. Now a built trans can wreck any budget. But most street cars can use a stock transmission unless you are launching all the time and shifting at 10k. Keep in mind the initial build is not all you will spend. Breaking parts is a reality.

When making more power you also need to set aside more money for maintenance. Remember the law of car modding....

Fast & Reliable = Not Cheap
Cheap & Fast = Not Reliable
Cheap & Reliable = Not Fast

Pick your poison wisely.

I run around the street in my car on like the 800-820 hp range i rev the car to 9700 and i'm on my second head in 2 seasons, i've rebuilt different parts in the trans to keep it shifting decent last trans issue was I pulled one of the teeth off the output shaft pinion gear so had to buy a whole output shaft and reassemble with different shims to accommodate the new shaft end play/preload tolerance. The trans has a hurt 3rd gear sychro/slider right now. Keep in mind this is excluding any labor on all these projects. I would not be able to afford a car like this otherwise. Honestly it's still a maintenance hog more than I like to afford lol. But when you get to do 3rd and 4th gear pulls and feel it train along and plant u back its all worth it.
