Cost of making Power.
I spent $6,000 to get 450whp. That doesn't include the money spent on supporting mods like clutch, shep trans and transfer case with new lsd. My car is setup to be at 500 - 550 if I do cams an E85 so add another $1,100 probably with a retune. I tried to buy parts that work well now but also will get me to over 500. I hate buying parts twice. I don't need 1450cc injectors for 93 octane, but I bought them because I want to eventually run ethanol.

Maybe I will just buy a second Evo and leave it stock so I can enjoy the best of both worlds. I will have a build thread sooner or later.
That's crazy. But hey, if you have the money and that's what you're into.. then why not? Wish I had money like that
I'm at $2335 in power and tune parts only and it's setup to run 93. Based on similar setups this should be netting me ~300whp. Add injectors and it would be E85 ready and more power.

It's not so bad if you race with a club that has tire contigency, and are competitive enough to win. NASA and NARRA, for exam, has tire contingency with you can win Hoosiers or Pirelli. However, not everyone can take podium, and the guys who can't win, are definitely getting hit in the wallet.

I actually just checked out the NARRA website, pretty cool stuff! I'm more of a drag kinda guy, but can definitely appreciate some good road racing too!
a well built 5spd speed can easily hold 800... no need for dog boxes... also reliability goes out the window the further you deviate from stock... my car was bought new and stayed stock for 3 years... since then it has spent more time down then up. i get about a month before adjustments or repairs need to be made... my tcase, trans and diff are solid... mostly bolts vibrating loose from solid mounts and no balance shafts or valve train adjustments or the worst is turbo blow by issues... it doesn't help that its constantly being modified either... on this build i'm hoping to make 720+ on my ef4 but its not looking good... its cost me upward of 15k this time and this is build 3. 400 cost me 8-9k, 600 costs me 20k up front and 3-4k more following, and i'm building on each one. rather then removing and buying more parts... i have had 2 exhaust mani's 2 sets of cams, and upgraded from stock to green to ef4... other then that i haven't double spent on any parts...
this build was completely by me... as well as the first... the second was done at MAP and then a lil more by me... also i include everything done as part of the build... not just power adders... rims, hood, brakes and such are included...
