Install Cams with no tune ?

hello i have a evo 9 with the mods that are in my sig. I had a question i have S2 cams with new springs and retainers with ARP head studs could i install them and babe the car home untill i can get a tune it not my daily and probly wont drive until ready for tune? So the question is can i do the install and drive it ?

i would not, it will shift your maps greatly.

If you stay in vacuum you will be fine to drive it very sparingly. It will run very rich with the added volume of air it will be pulling in. So if you do, stay out of boost.

Do you have ecuflash? You're going to have to add timing at idle and maybe raise it a bit. Also you will need to tweak the MIVEC cam advanced map a little too to reduce the valve overlap...

I mean you don't HAVE to, but it will run a lot better if you do what I mentioned above.

You'll be just fine. The idle might be a bit rough until it gets tuned, but nothing "hazardous" to the health of the vehicle.

Got 272 cams, springs retainers, fuel injectors, arp headstuds, and a few other things. drove it under 2,000 rpms to the tune place and made it fine

OP, you'll be fine. For peace of mind, I'd have at least a WB gauge to monitor AFR. You really should have a Tactrix cable and EvoScan to log.

I'm assuming your previous tune with Jamie has the knock light set up. With that I'd just stay out of boost.

I drove my car 400+ miles after cam install. Just babied it and watched my A/F gauge. You will be fine! Just dont wait too long.
