It was a tough choice. I studied both choices for about a month and decided that since the fp is ball bearing, it is the better choice for my needs. Ive actually been a long time customer and fan of map products, it was tough not to buy the ef4. However, a journal bearing turbo isnt what i wanted. So fp it is.

What do you guys think? Fp black vs ef4 - who wins overall?

Called them yesterday and they said there is a manufacturing delay bc they are waiting on ball bearings. They said ball bearings should be here next week, and that they will then resume production.

When you originally placed your order, how long did they tell you it would be?

Sorry I'm sidetracking your thread, its hard to search all of these options vs opinions.
Again sorry for the newb question, why FP specifically the black.
I see they have FP green/FP red /FP black.
Again different models different power levels, why one vs the other?
Faster spool time higher psi,etc.
Again I know very lttle about turbos Does ball bearing outperform other types of units.
I'm new at turbos, but other than FP/Garrett/
aka Honeywell/ greedy/mhi/precision turbo(don't know if they make units for 2012 evox Mr.
Sorry I forgot ETS(Mike was super easy to do business with, in addition to Junior over at MAP PERFORMANCE, again nothing but positive.
Both made me feel that they are genuine about how they treat customers.
sorry for rant, had a 6 pack of Coronas.

What's the best option ? Both price/performance are key.

Thers a little box that you can type things into toward the top of the page it's called a search box you question is so vague and can't be answered. To many factors play into your question. What's your power goal? What kind of power? What motor? Ect ect don't hijack someone's thread because you got lazy and didn't want to do research. There's plenty of threads with answers to your questions

Trying to keep this as an informative thread to people who are planning to buy an FP turbo. When I went to buy mine, I was surprised by such a long wait. I was assuming it was in stock or otherwise noted; most sites will say "backordered until x/x/xx" or something like that. FP said nothing of this matter and it threw me off when they said 2-3 weeks over the phone when I called it in.

That being said, I really want this turbo so I'll wait. But again, it would have been nice to know ahead of time.

Thank you for contributing to this thread everyone. Cheers.

Called them today, which is two days short of three weeks from when my original order was placed. (They said two to three weeks originally)

They said they are waiting on parts to arrive this week and should be able to build my turbo next week.

Dear eight pound, six ounce, newborn infant Jesus. Don’t even know know a word yet, just a little infant and so cuddly, but still omnipotent…please let the ball bearings come into FP delivery dock so that we may enjoy our new turbos in all their glory. in your name we pray.

Amen
