I'm curious as to why so many people remove the rear wing from there Evo's. Some replace the trunk and others have just stuck plugs in the holes where it was. One of the appeals to me of an Evo is the aggressive body over other cars.

 

Take the wing off. I think the evo looks more aggressive without it but doesn't draw attention from the man. Wing and loud muffler= pulled over
I took mine off and it was one of the best mods I did. I used small circular decals I bought from a local vinyl/graphics guy.
You will need a piece of fishing line to cut thru the tape once you unbolt it. You can always put it back on if you need/want to.

 

I took mine off also, and I love the wingless look. The body lines are still aggressive without it.

 

I took off mine cause didn't want that in my rear view mirror.took the lid to the body shop,welded holes and resprayed.

 

Added the rexspeed spoiler love being able to see out the back now

 

I originally took mine off because it attracts too much attention.

I ended up putting it back on because I need the downforce on track.

 

I didn't think about the man. I guess after driving mustangs for a long time I have learned to ignore them. To quote a great movie. "What's behind me is not important"

 

I think wingless has a more professional feel.

My Brembos are also powdercoated lambo orange so I think
my Evo stands out plenty.

I want a spoiler. 8 preferably. but its one of those signature items i refuse to let go. I bought my car with out the spoiler and the seller said he will get me one. hahaha! never got one, but i need the 8 spoiler in my life. I just covered mine with carbon fiber vinyl. =]

 

Its looks vs function , its a factory aero part , I don't know why people always say that they have problems with cops because of a wing and a loud exhaust. The only time that happens is when you DD your car like an *** hat. I had a 06 wrx with an STI wing, fully catless with invidia G200 exhaust. Never once got a second look. Even when pulled over for something else did not get talked to about it. My EVO X is still stock for now but also have had 0 problems with officers. On my wrx i could feel a difference even when DD driving with the STi wing so i don't see how the factory evo wing would not also feel the same. But if you are hella flush and you can never go the speeds needed to make down force anyways so who cares right?

 

If you track, you will be happy you have it. I don't, and I still like it.

 

I guess now that I'm older (still not much wiser) I don't get the looks from the cops that I did when I was younger. Only time I had a problem from loud exhaust was one of my first mustangs, turn downs and 6k rpm by a hiding cop will get you pulled over every time. But I love the look of the wing and will only buy a car with it still on. I was just curious as to why people remove them.

 

Just a matter of preference lol. I never had any issues with cops with the spoiler.

 

I took mine off because I wanted a new look, plus I like seeing what is behind me and the new CF trunk is pretty cool.
