I had a radiator cap leaking onto the top of the radiator. I had never seen a radiator cap do that before and so I thought, well, HG. However, a new cap was all she needed.

Did the cap look wasted?

Nah, it isn't the cap. There's this hairline crack that's running from front to back of the piece that the radiator caps screws on to.

I ordered a new radiator, hoses, and thermostat (since I'm in there); so that should square me away and have it quit hissing/spewing coolant everywhere.

If it was me, I would just go ahead and change the radiator cap as it has the potential to be a cheap fix. However, if that doesn't take care of it, maybe you can try a compression check or better yet, a leakdown test. The results of those tests should tell you if your headgasket is blown.

I'll look a little closer thanks for the heads up.

I have to get to that, I haven't been home. I'm going to take it to moore and do a HG with ARP headstuds anyways, the car has 105k on it and I wanted a new radiator so it might be time

Thread Revival!

Hello all, im currently dealing with something somewhat like this.. I have had the front smaller turbo coolant line blow, the 3/8 inner diameter line.

I replaced, then 2 weeks later, i blew the same diamater line behind the motor, going from the thermostat housing to the throttle body..

can anyone help me out with this? Why is this happening? Im guessing old age of rubber hoses as i have a 04..
but has anyone determined this to be something else?
I have a new w/p and HG and timing belt done 5k ago.
just replaced thermostat with new OEM from mitsu!

There could always be some underlying problems, but I wouldn't worry about it too much. I also blew the water line to my turbo, and i noticed that the hose was just in bad shape. Probably wouldn't be a bad idea to replace some of those hoses when you get the chance, just to be safe .

easy fix, might be your thermostat is broken and is getting stuck open or closed.
