pros and cons
I don't like to admit it but that is very true. Its definitely an enthusiast car, not practical. That's why I love it though.
For what it's worth I would do it all over again as I have no regrets. It's not my daily driver which makes it more enjoyable as I don't need the car to drive. I still open my garage door every day when I get home from work to check and make sure she's still there. Every time I drive the car there is a huge smile on my face.
You do have to be careful when buying a used Evo as even the best cases have usually been driven hard. Good luck with your decision.
^Yep, my point exactly. If you're set on an evo, nothing else will suffice. I could of gotten a less expensive car, probably newer, with better gas mileage and easier to maintain. I did not I searched high and low until I found the one meeting my criteria. Point blank - if you must have it then DO IT, if it's just a cool idea but may pass over then don't.

I can help you. I had an 08 silver nismo before my 06 Evo ix(some dick totaled my z) . There are also differences because the evos more modded than the Z... But basically let me start off by saying I LOVE both cars. First two things I liked right away about the evo was the of course having multiple passengers as an option and awd vs rwd since it snows a lot in MA. ( both cars were/are daily drivers so this was huge). Now I have an evo which came with megan coilovers and they're terrible compared to nismo suspension. I feel like with all the suspension upgrades nismo added it was a lot tighter than my evo which other than those coilovers has stock suspension not Mr. I think the 350z Imop is an amazingly gorgeous car which I personally think is way better looking than the 370z. I like the evo ix better than 370z...but 350z with nismo kit and those rays even better looking than an evo ix Mr with BBS. Also this could be coincidental but my brembos didn't get flakey and fade on my Z which it already has on my evo ix in 20k miles. Evo is just way more practical for me and my evos way faster than my Z ever would be without going FI, and it's on stock ix turbo. I can always just get better suspension and repaint my calipers. Evo is way more stable than Z. Harder to lose control and die. Overall I choose the evo and I haven't even gotten to drive it in the snow yet. Also Nissan Imo is far superior to mitsubishi and if I could afford a gtr I'd have one. Z was way more reliable and the transmission was smoother although throw out bearing was loud. All of this is my opinion. Be ready to have money in savings to fix the evo.... but get it.
Edit: forgot to mention mileages. Nismo had 11k miles when I was hit and it was totaled and I bought my evo ix with 23k miles like 2 months ago. Insurance went up $30 a month and my driving records horrendous. Also An evo viii isn't an evo ix and id have to take the mileages of the two into consideration as well. Z's interior and tac are far superior even with my SSL package nismo seats are just as nice Imo as any and all stock Evo seats ( I actually would have preferred Evo viii recaros over my leather recaros). Also, rays vs enkei no contest rays, and rays vs BBS is closer but still rays. I loved that gauge in the Z that toggled between displays. Digital speedometer, oil, voltage, and some other stuff I forgot.

Thanks a lot for your opinions everybody. As far as the evo, I found out that it's an 03. I'll find out exact mileage on Monday. My buddy owns a speed shop in Pennsylvania. I live in Michigan. My buddy sponsors this car and I trust the work done to it. He said it has 400hp at 8psi. From the pics I've seen, it's clean. No ssl package. And I've always been a black/white/silver color car guy, but that blue sure is growing on me.

I went from a z to an evo and the z handled amazing but unless your drifting part time, the evo is def a better car. For doors and plenty of after market support. Plus these evos make dumb power. Spending $4500 on a BP turbo kit alone plus fuel just to make 400 wasent in my favor either. But at the end of the day, it's all about preference.
Pros
Great handling
All-wheel drive
Turbo charged
Fun to drive
Fast
Cons
Weak clutch if not after market
Little bit more expensive to maintain
Not a whole a lot of cons lol
Good luck

I was wondering if you guys could give the pros and cons on evo against sti
I was wondering if you guys could give the pros and cons on evo against sti
Pros:
AWD, faster than Z's straight out of the box, easy/cheap to mod and make power, 4 doors, will literally run forever as long as you mod it and maintain it responsibly. I put 182,000 miles on my first EVO which included a lot of hard daily driving, and autocrossing, and it never gave me a single issue. Sold it still on stock motor, tranny, and diffs with around 360whp. The new owner has around 210,000 miles on it still on original motor, tranny, and diffs, but he's making around 450-500whp I think? I'm on my 3rd EVO now, second EVO IX MR, and I've got 118,000 miles on it pushing around 380-390whp and it's going strong. The previous owner didn't take great care of the car though, so I did replace the tranny with a TRE built 6 speed for future proofing.
Cons:
gas mileage
