Okay,
So first and foremost my car is an Evo VIII with 28k miles and has a sunroof. The sunroof was working wonderfully, never made noise, never did anything stupid. One day I went out to the car and it just stopped working. It had set over night and it is closed.
I took the headliner down, looked at the teeth on the motor, looked at the winder for the window and it was all good. I took the motor out and all the screws were there. Took the motor and a 12v battery and put power to it, it spun both ways freely and fine.
I reinstalled the motor and it still does NOTHING. There is no power, no click, no wine, no NOTHING. I switched the relays around in the car hoping for one that may have been messed up, got nothing. I do not even hear this motor clicking TRYING to spin and it just being weak. Is there ANYTHING that someone knows that I don't? Because I really do like a sunroof and that's why I have one. Please help me fix this thing.

Are you getting 12v to the motor from the connector? If it was trying to spin but sounded weak it probably has high resistance. Like the power wires frayed etc.
Check all power supplies and grounds. Get a wiring diagram if possible and disconnect the motor. Use a DVOM to measure at the motor with switch pressed and proceed to check the different areas of the circuit to ensure power supplies and grounds are o.k. Make sure all fuses are not blown. I would suggest to check power supply to the switch. If there but no voltage to the motor but voltage to the switch, I would deem that the switch has gone bad.
Another thing to check would be to remove the relay and check terminal 30 (constant power) as well as terminal 85 (relay ground).
Hope this helps and good luck

I finally got less lazy and looked into this. The motor, wiring, and everything was fine. The issue was the control module board. So I found a wrecked lancer with a sunroof and bought the board only (much cheaper than the motor). Now the sunroof works like the champion it is. Hope this helps others.
Where's this control module board that you speak of located at inside the cabin? I'm more just curious because I have a sunroof (SSL) and this info might come in handy one day. Thanks.
