test pipe question

so i just put a test pipe on my stock tuned evo 8 the other day and someone told me that i will run to lean and blow my motor? i have a afr and when im wot its 11.0-11.5 and at higher rpms its in the high 10s. the only mods on the are are polished exhaust mani, downpipe, test pipe, catback, and intake. is it safe to run this or should i put my cat back on?

Its not going to blow your motor. Stock tunes are normally rich anyways. Would it help to get a tune, yes (bc of multiple mods). But all of your mods are helping it breath better, and the test pipe is going to blow the motor?

There still could be knock counts even with a rich AFR. Will you blow the motor, unlikely but I'd avoid WOT pulls until you are tuned. Do you have a tactrix cable for logging?

If you're on maf, the tune will adjust for more airflow .. Question is, will the higher load cells be adjusted properly? Cats don't kill power like we rule them to be.(hfc vs test) So chances are you wouldn't see a large gap in load cells hit either way. However no one knows about your tune and to be safe you need to have it loved upon.

You don't need a tune. You can drive it as hard as you want.

no i dont have a cable for data logging, i wanted to try that out but it seems like a lot of information to take in at one time, and the car is my DD so i dont do pulls very often at all i was just doing a 3rd gear pull to see what my afr was reading through all the rpm ranges
