26k miles so far. I average about 15mpg....If you want an idea regarding whether I baby the car or not. I expect it will last me at least 10k more...

All depends if you can handle the car or not. There are people who have low mileage and had to change the clutch already. Then again there are people who have heavily modded Evos with a good amount of mileage with the original clutch still on. I myself have just over 5000 miles on mine. I can't imagine people with only a few hundred miles and have to replace the clutch.

I think from all of these posts on the subject that I have gathered one thing. The stock clutch works just fine if you drive it like it was a Cavalier. If you drive it hard and SLIP it hard, if for only a few times, it will fail on you like communism. I think that is why we have so many people that are seeing such varying results.

Sorry if I didn't know that this topic is brought up often. I am a new member here though. Besides most search engines suck on websites.

How in the world does an 18 year old destroy 3 clutches so fast. I mean did he not have any experience and not know what he was doing. Because I am 19 and should be getting an Evo in a little bit. I have driven many a stick shift and know how to drive them. By no means in hell am I a master but that comes with experience. Should I be expecting something like this happening to me?

You people with blown clutches must be doing 6K holeshots at every light or something...I drive my car pretty hard, and I'm coming up on 7000 miles and the clutch is just fine...

if ya just gonna do a little racing on the street it should be fine....but if ya gonna take it to the track and beat on it...i would replace it....mine went out after one week when i was at Thunderhill raceway.....the snap ring on the pressure plate broke....the dealer says its a common problem....so i threw an ACT in there and got the new replacement parts back....fyi
