Driving am Evo poses no more risk than any other car. Each is their own hunk of metal. The only risk is the ability of drivers themselves.

Right but regardless the amount of power, someone can ruin things just as much in a 90hp automobile as they can a 300. Irrelevant. It comes to a question of driver ability and self control no matter what the vehicle.

Driver ability and self control is not even fully developed yet when your 16 I don't care if your baby Einstein it just doesn't come that fast. Also There is a reason why evos with structural/frame damage go for 10-13k...they are probably on the edge and will need a ton of repair or are unsafe to drive.

My first vehicle was a Ford Lightning. Supercharged v8 with a positive differential. I learned a lot from driving it and dont regret driving it as my first vehicle. I was young and tried to respect it but believe me having all that power on your right foot its not easy to baby all the time.I had my dad register the truck under his name so we could put the insurance on his name too. I dont know your financial situation but if that isnt a big deal I say go for it. Just remember you have to respect the car and the power it makes.

Getting hit by an Evo at 100mph is the same thing as getting hit by a Civic at 100mph its all about the driver, if you feel the need for speed take it to your local track.

nobody said it mattered but it's like a small scale of Justin beiber in a Farrari. It's dangerous and is just stupid when the driver can hardly see over the wheel. Not to mention it's an evo for 13k so it would be a used up pos. I'd rather drive a Honda. Seriously.

Well it doesnt really matter what everybody here thinks its his money and hes gonna buy it one way or another, but its up to him if he wants to drive like a crazy teenager or respect the car and traffic laws. I for too say not to give a 16 year old a sports car for the same reason that theyre driving like theyre Dominic Torreto. I have a friend and hes 25yrs old, he has totaled an Infiniti G20, an 09 GTi, and fell off a gsxr600 just for driving like a maniac and street racing, so like is been stated its up to the driver.

Some people need to put things into perspective, my first car was a 1995 bmw 318ti boasting a very non exciting 140hp.....that was the ABSOLUTE MOST DANGEROUS car I have ever driven. Car would slide out in dry condition let's not even mention a drop, literally a light shower of rain. I've slid out, 360 that car just from taking a turn after a stoplight going MAYBE 20mph. The evo is not a bad first car just because it has 300hpvstock.

just a few qualifying questions i would pose to any would be evo owner,

1. Are you familiar with all aspects of proper vehicle maintenance?

2. Does your living situation allow for the car to be out of service for a few days/weeks for maintenance/repair?

3. Have you researched the average cost of scheduled maintenance jobs?

4. Have you checked to see what your insurance premium will be?

5. Do you plan on wrenching on the car yourself, or do you have a local shop that specializes in this type of car?

If your answer to these questions is yes then you are at least covering your bases.
