Did your car get loud after Cams?

I dont mean like something wrong, just more engine noise in general. I have S1's on stock turbo/stock motor/ full boltons/ custom magnaflow muffler.

I am wondering because i am an old fart and want to make the car a little quieter and i cant remember how much difference in noise the cams made. I might go back to stock to improve drivebalility and noise.

PS: No i am not buying a Lexus

My s2's took loud to another level with magnaflow titanium cat less 3" turbo back.

Then I put a hks sport and it got more reasonable. The dyno max vt was ok too. Actually really quiet in the city. Only rattled at stop lights. And increasing idle rpm above a heavy lope would have solved that.

yes it definitely got deeper and of course the lope is present. Just listen to stock cammed evo's idle, even with aftermarket exhausts they're pretty timid at idle

I went with a milder cam and even that was noticeably louder than stock. You can definitely hear the lope.

Thanks for all the feedback. One thing i forgot to clarify is that i am more talking about driving noise (esp higher rpms). The lope is ok with me.

Yeah, my car is defiantly louder with S2 cams and aftermarket exhaust. I'll be putting the stock exhaust back on and getting the new English Racing boost activated test pipe dump.

Good feedback guys! Anyone else care to share their experience with engine noise after installing aftermarket cams?

forgot to mention i have Powerflex Mounts (front and sides) so that might add to it too. Mine are purple though, i think they are 65 on the durometer. Not as stiff as the yellow ones.

My exhaust sound increased as well, going to S2's. Exhaust noise will increase with just changing cams as the motor is ingesting more air all the time now. More air moving through the exhaust is going to increase the noise a bit.

Mine got a little louder but much deeper. The lope makes it sounds beastly. Cams are a must!

You are opening the valves more and for longer. I would think it should be a bit louder.

The extra air from the valves being open a bit longer will definitely make it a tad louder. It's a much better noise!

likely you need to address your exhaust, such as go back to stock cat and get an exhaust that has a low DB level--tanabe for instance is 93 one of, if not the quietest. HFC doesnt count either or test pipe all way too loud.. from one old guy to another-- I have thumping cams low noise at cruise and all the perks with out the BS.
