That effect is more a function of the heavy front bias and almost no droop travel in the coilovers. You can achieve the same effect on a 2g if its got stiff coilovers with no helper springs. My friend's dsm will do that effect even better than my car cause he insists on running super stiff JIC coilovers.

The more important question is does your car groan when you jack it up? Thats when you can appreciate how stiff the evo chassis is. It just goes up, no shifting, no groaning.

I had 850# front springs with a 25mm bar on my 2G with a sunroof and that didn't make a darned difference. No matter what kind of sauce you put on your over-cooked pasta, it's still over-cooked pasta. The tail of the car just flopped over.

What were the rear springs? Any helpers? Thats more important than front springs to do this little balancing act. I don't think my friend's dsm is abnormally stiff, he has no additional bracing either.

Agreed they are terrible handlers. Especially sad considering the 2g had double wishbones front and despite the pain in the *** camber adjustment still sucked. Just don't tell the dsm community.

Hey! I have the convertible chassis. If it twist and groan I don't hear it!

850/425 with 25mm bars at both ends. Helpers at both ends, but I don't see why that matters to the question.

Word, I spent 8 years trying to make a sunroof equipped DSM handle. That chassis is so floppy in so many modes. THE FOLD! Anyone who's jacked up one from the front knows what this is..

My old car is still on 700/350 & helps to keep springs seated with plenty of drop and RM bars at both ends. You gotta jack one corner a significantly greater distance before the other end will pick up compared to the Evo.

Hmmmm... Do ALL Evos do this? Stock suspension. How high do you have to jack up the wheel for the rear to raise? I've never experienced this. Maybe since I have 105k my chassis has lost some sturdiness.

Closest I've seen is when backing out of girlfriends parents driveway(which is steep at the entrance) my rear right wheel was up and spinning lol while the rest of car was on the ground.

Don't sweat it stock suspension will do this too but only at a much higher height, because it has real droop travel unlike most coilovers. A good coilover with helper springs or flat springs will allow droop travel as well. I switch between stock suspension in the winter and coilovers in the summer so I notice the difference a lot.

Makes sense. I've never cranked the jack up much at all lol. I do know going out of steeper driveways my rear lifts off

My IX has 114k on it and it does do this. It could have something to do with the suspension though. I have the stock KYB struts with Swift Spec-R springs. I cut the bump stops in half but I feel like I remember it doing this even with the stock springs. Plus I had an '03 and an '05 both 8's and they both did this too. Both of those were total stock struts w/o any springs at all.

Did it have to be cranked up pretty high or front wheel just inches off ground.

It has to be jacked up relatively high for it to do this. When I work on my car I put it on 4 jack stands really high off the ground. What I get a kick out of is when I take one of the rear jack stands out when I'm letting it down and the car balances perfectly on 3 jack stands with one of the rear ones being gone
