OR.....

You need Shep to build you a 6 speed with a stronger gear set.

https://www.evolutionm.net/forums/ev...rans-6spd.html

Shep is in the process of getting another run of these gears made now.

Here's the thread... just read the first post, then skip to the end. The rest is getting together the first group buy, then people (like myself) pissing and moaning for 36 pages and 3 years how they couldn't get them anymore.

As I said. I spoke to Shep last week, and he's in the process of getting another run of these made now.

super pissed about this. I called Shep months ago when I was looking for upgrade options on my 6 speed and they said the upgraded gears were a one time thing and they had no interest in doing them again. I went with the TRE 6 speed instead which is good to 450-500whp... now my EVO is having the motor rebuilt after a ring land broke, and it's going to be capable of 600whp if I wanted to mod it that high. Awesome.

Don't be pissed. John just found out about this. I have been asking him about this for 2 years now, and he has over time told me the story...

Here's my last communication with him about a week ago:

This was in response to getting the gearsets from the manufacturer in Australia:

Still not happy about it. I'm not buying another transmission, so it really sucks.

Definitely go to a 5 speed. Much stronger and its definitely the route to go for a high hp build. Many 6 speeds end up having 4-5 gears weld together if the bearings dont already weld themselves to the gears. Not enough space between the gears to keep them cool enough. Oil cooler might help but not as much help as just switching to 5 speed would be.
