Oil pan replacement

I am looking at doing my oil pan replacement and on lancershop and a few others it shows recommendation to replace the oil return line. is this actually necessary or can I just replace the gasket as mentioned in a thread while researching it.

I usually do what's recommended but in this case it could be one of those, a retailer wants more sales than what is needed to get the job done. obviously, replacing it would be great but is it absolutely necessary when you don't have a problem with the one you have now?

Thanks,
Mike

At least replace the gasket. I've never heard of replacing the oil return when dropping the pan, only during turbo replacement.

I dont see why the line would need replacing but that's just my opinion. As to the gasket, yes I would recommend replacing that while you're in there.

Nice. I will replace the gaskets. I found it confusing why it would be required as well.

Thanks guys!

As long as it's not an "updated" pan and they moved where the return bolts up just get the gasket. Be sure they didn't change the location at all. That has happened to me with other parts before.

It's supposed to be OEM? I didn't see any notes.

Don't forget the bolt gaskets

You can buy this..
http://www.streettunedmotorsports.co...gasket_kit.htm

Or just buy the gaskets at https://www.jnztuning.com/oempartscat.html yourself

MR258477 and MR497720 (x2)

^^^^ this. You absolutely have to replace the bolt washers on the pan side of the return. They have rubber on them and will leak if not replaced. It's also a really good idea to put a little grey rtv on the bolt head and washers there as well or they can leak pretty easily.
