Evo IX imo is a better car. Enjoy the new ride and don't look back.

Your IX will probably be worth more than X's in a couple years

bro you have a Evo IX thats the best evo ever made imo, I don't even consider the Evo X a real Evo they're not 4G63 anymore they're 4B11 they share the same engine with the regular lancer and genesis and some engine parts with the Caliber SRT4 so mitsubishi messed up big time with those Evo X's. but to me the 05-06 Evos are the best there up there with 3rd gen RX7, MKIV Supra and R34 Skyline so be happy you have a big boy car

Guys,

i thought id quickly drop in to say Hi.

Honestly, I'm a bit lost for words.

When i posted this thread i was really expecting it to turn negative and probably get scrutinised.

(that would probably be the case if i posted the same thread in the X forum)

You all have been very much helpful, supportive and patient with me since day 1 i joined this forum.

i do really appreciate all your support here, it means a lot to me.

Its night time here at the moment, ill take some snapshots on the iPad tomorrow if the weather holds.

Kind regards,

Jamie

If I had the cash I'd get an ix, but I have an 8 id never think about getting an x,even though I like the look of the front, and debadged for the rear makes it look way cleaner.

Who knows, it sounds to me like its sort of a rare car and if you keep it in good condition and later on down the road you decide you want to sell it, you might make some decent money off it.
I bought mine new as well. I felt guilty for about a week for having spent so much money on the car. Almost 7 years later, I feel it was one of the best purchases I ever made!

Theres a lot of theft where I'm from, so sorry for the cut-out.

Normally for 2007'… the car valuation website has estimated 110,000 - 180,000km (68,000 - 111,000 mi) for Australian driving.

$26,000 - $29,000 AUD ($23,000 - $26,000USD) and yes, brand new car prices cost about twice as much as they do in the US.

I paid about 38,000 AUD$ due to being white and low KM.. and basically almost stock.

theres a lot of mods i would like… e.g Vortex generator, O2housing, exhaust, hi flow cat, fuel pump & intake. which is pretty common thing with Evos…

a friend of mine said that i should've bought one with mods to begin with to save some $$$…

but not only a 2007' with low KM was hard to find… one in white… it was almost impossible… i jumped on it

EVO VI is a very nice looking car. Probably the most aggressive looking out of all…

the pumped guards makes it look like its on steroids.

But it was just too dated….

if i had no choice to buy a car 1999 - 2001 id probably pay the high price of the R34 GT-R V-SPEC 1.

Also japanese imports almost always have their clocks winded back… and its hard to trace…

this car i bought was a local delivered… the KM is most likely genuine as there are strict governing laws in AUS regarding odometer tampering.

Haha this cracks me up! I too feel the same way. Except I think the X front looks awesome. The rear on the other hand...

I think you made a good choice on the IX. Downfall for AUS/NZ EVO 8/9's is that they now have the boyracer image whereas the X is a little touch on the classier side. I own an 8 but if I could afford a 9 7 years ago I would've snatched one up. There's actually a mint 9 for sale here in NZ untouched. Might grab her. Anyways, good luck with future mods. You won't regret it.
yeah with the X, i kinda have to look at the front guard grille/vent to quickly distinguish sometimes.

and I've noticed that in the US, theres some Evo X with small rear spoilers…which looks horrible.

i don't think it was a good choice than Mitsubishi decided to bring out the lancer to be on the same level as the standard WRX… for the current model.

Mods don't mean it has been tracked either. Within a few months your evo will feel slow and you'll think something is wrong. Then you'll want to add power.
Well it already feels "Not quick enough"

the 0-60mph is really all over the shop…. a lot of sources claim 4.2 - 4.6 sec… some claim 5.5 sec… which is what i think is more realistic.

i guess nothing a few bolt-ons can't fix.

originally i was tossing between the VIII and the IX… big difference in price between the two,

Well i really favoured the look of the IX… i prefer the JDM rear and front bumper compared to the VIII. Id rather the black seats with red stitching instead of the Blue in the VIII.

I also wanted the car to have the Mitsubishi Mivec.

and lastly, the fact that the VIII was never locally delivered here in AUS, it was only available as a grey import. So normally the cars have the clocks winded back etc as well as accident history would be hard to trace.

So in the end i forked out more for the IX… but yeah like you said, i just couldn't help but notice the X only few thousand dollars more than a 6 yr old car.

I used to own an X with 400whp.

Now I own a IX with 400whp.

I much prefer my IX. it just feels better, lighter, more direct. I've upgraded to a double din NAV to make the interior a little more modern.

I do not miss my X at all!

interesting…

care to elaborate and detail your views a bit?

As i mentioned, its not that id sell the IX and buy a X…

If anything id upgrade my daily driver…which is a ****-box Mazda 121 1996 model…to maybe, a Lexus.

But yeah it was just a thought in the back of my head …a "What if"

so I'm sure there are others here that would find it interesting why the IX is "better"

cheers

Not at all surprised by these responses since you posted in the "old evo" part of the forum. JK .

The evo is a sausage magnet no matter what year. The evo ix just attracts a much younger crowd (on average from what I seen IRL). Most chicks I know think the evo ix looks hideous. Most likely because they do not know what it is and just think civic. You may not care but it is something I would consider if it were me. If you want to impress your "COD peeps" and not be a "n00b" on internet forums the ix will get the job done. Get the x if you like newer vehicles with a better interior and ride quality. Get what makes you happy but those factors I would consider when living everyday with a vehicle.

Now where did I put my flame suit...
