Anyone have any clunking noises when hitting any sort of bump or cracks??
Anyone have any clunking noises when hitting any sort of bump or cracks??
Every time i hit a bump or go through an intersection dip and sometimes when just turning (shifting body weight) i have clunking noise. I think it's the stock coilovers but not 100% sure.
ANYONE else have any of the same problems? Or comments? -Linc

how many miles do you have?
Mine started clunking very badly around the 3-4k mile mark and for months after that. Once the weather got colder, it seemed to get worse.
I now have 30k miles and cant even remember the last time I heard a clunk. I would give it some time. I have a feeling once the springs settle in a bit, it'll go away for good.

I had the same sound from the day I got my car, but I'd only hear it occasionally when exiting my driveway. After reading a few threads of people here with similar sounds, I figured it wasnt catastrophic (i'd hear it maybe twice a week).
A week or so ago I started hearing it more frequently and over other bumps while driving around normally. I went to my dealer to see what they'd say. The thing that sucks about this sound (for my car anyway) is that some days its clunky as hell and other days I dont hear it at all. Anyway, drove around with the shop foreman from my dealer and we could only vaguely reproduce it. He ended up re-torquing all the bolts related to the front suspention.
It seemed to help, I didnt hear any clunks for a few days after that. Today, however, I heared a loud one exiting a sloped corner
The shop forman at my dealer was (amazingly?) pretty cool and said if this dosent fix it that we may have to hook up some microphones to try to find out exactly where its coming from. Which sounded like a bit much to me, but at least he offered up another solution if the re-torquing didnt fix it.
Not sure what i'm going to do at this point. There are some other threads where guys mention putting a peice of rubber hose between the ends of the springs which I may investigate next.

I didn't really see any answers exept
doesn't give a ****. I really think everyone with a problem needs to form a complaint to
until we get a better answer than it's "normal". It's not normal and i can't live with it. I payed a lot of money for a top of there (
) line car and i don't want to "live with the noise" BMW, Volvo, Cad., or any other NICE car dealership would not just tell me to LIVE WITH IT. It's not a ****in' GEO or some other cheap *** car.
Does anyone know of a number we can call and flood
with our complaint? I really want some info on this and a real solution to our problem. There are some things i just can't live with and a getto sounding car is one of them. I bought a NEW car for the insurance that if i had a problem i just take it back and they fix it.
Sorry if i'm ranting, venting and swearing too much, i'm pissed when i get the "just brush off" adittude from FAT CAT's. Grrrrrrr! And i feel this is really the place to talk about this stuff.
Thanks for any info and or comments. -Linc
