Just another Evo that won't start.

So I've got an 03 Evo 8 with 109xxx miles on it. Three inch turbo back, Dejon Intake, Forge MBC and recirc. There is an innovate wideband installed, some run of the mill Autometer boost gauge, and an Apexi Turbo Timer that I rarely use. To my knowledge there is no tune on the car, and is basically stock. This has happened to me several times, and usually is fixed by unplugging the Camshaft Angle sensor and plugging it back in. The little vent over the manifold is gone and when I decide to wash it water gets all up in there.

Well today was different... I was cruising along at about seventy and went full blown lean, like the car had cut fuel. I coasted off the side of the road and screwed with the connectors under the hood thinking that might be the case since I've heard that if a cam angle sensor ****s out it will cut fuel. I checked all of the fuses I could. I got towed to my house and pulled it in the garage and checked to see if I was getting spark, which I was. I pulled the fuel pump cover off and checked to see if I had power to the fuel pump when the key was "on" and had nothing to any of the pins. I checked the large relay under the hood on the passenger side. Still nothing. Does the key need to be turned to start before that circuit is opened up or should I at least have a twelve volt signal to the relay and pump? It's a fairly new Wally in the tank, the same thing happened back in August so I swapped out a perfect Aeromotive that was in the tank. Car turns over great, all accessories work fine, and I'm not throwing any check engine lights. At first the car would try to start, but now there's absolutely no hope for that happening. Everything is slightly rusty under it, so is there any certain grounds I could check? I've been told the '03 cars are known for water to get inside the driver side kick panel and corrode connections, but everything seemed fine when I was in there back in August. Plus all of my accessories work fine, and I don't have any creepy electrical fits with my wipers or headlights... Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks everyone.

It won't prime the pump in the on position. Only the 10 does that. Is it cranking over and not starting or is it not even clicking at all when you turn the key?

Yeah I know it won't prime until the ignition is moved to the start position. That's exactly how my DSM is. The car turns over freely, and I get spark. I should have a 12v power wire running to the pump correct? Because none of the pins had any power supply. Nor did the large relay under the hood on the passenger side.

Welllppp it just started up like it always does without any problem. I went out and hooked up and bolted down the relay I removed, hooked up the fuel pump again, and pulled the kickpanel off of the driver side to check to see if the connectors in there were corroded. None of them were, and someone had gone through and covered them all with dielectric grease. Figured I'd give it an attempt at starting and it fired right up. It's been sitting in the garage with the stove going so it's about 50*f for the past couple hours. No idea what the issue is. Guess I'll have to wait and try to figure it out whenever it happens again. Damn intermittent electrical issues!

cheak fuel pressure and cheak for compression and spark or boost leaks

There's a trigger wire on the starter that gets messed up and corroded. Check out the little wire going to the starter. Not the main power wires but just the little trigger wire. There's a couple threads on here about this issue and apparently its more common then you would think. It causes issues exactly like you are explaining.

Thanks I'll look into that. We had some nasty snow over the winter and I ended up having a corroded lead to the starter. The starter was dead until I got under there and messed around with it a bit. So that would make sense. About a week ago I had an oil cooler line come loose. Thank god I caught it before any damaged happen, I only lost like a quart and a half of oil.
