How to remove injectors for dummies?
Hey guys.
So i got new injectors for my evo and i'm looking to swap them out. Here's the catch. I can't seem to undo the harness plug from the injector. I know this is probably the dumbest question on here but do I need to remove the metal clip in order to remove the plug from the injector? Any help would be very much appreciated! Thanks!

Yup as stated the metal clip needs to come off and tends to fly. Spoolinup has clips that clip on and do away with the metal clip, They are ford connectors but I don't know from what vehicle and they're cheap enough that I didn't care to research it myself. The instructions on the site are pretty good and it only took me 30 min to swap and haven't had any issues with them yet and it makes taking the connector off a lot easier.

Me, all the time lately to chase down various issues and I'm going to be rebuilding the head this summer. But in my book even just once is enough to justify them as it not only makes them easier to remove but no more worrying about losing the stupid metal clips haha.
You can unbolt the whole rail with the injectors still installed and connected just fine btw.
I'm not removing the injectors, just unclipping them so I don't snag tools on wires and rip them out. And I'm well aware that the fuel rail unbolts seeing as how I've unbolted it to replace it with an ams one and replace all of the seals on the injectors.
And OP if you want to save time don't disconnect fuel supply line and don't remove all fuel rail(unless you want to change it) just remove passenger side bolt and loosen the driver side bolt just enough to slide out the injector and then replace with new one.don't worry about spilling the fuel cause it won't be much.

I suggest to remove the fuel rail from the supply line, it is just 2 tiny bolts and doesn't take but an extra 30 seconds. Makes it much easier when you have very snug o-rings and can't get the injectors to seat properly.
