I've only had a Thule rack with the snow board carriers and loved it.
I always liked the yakimas but i think they sit a bit to low and I've always bought mine used so
cant really help you with anything else.

I like yakima better

Q towers (i think they come in sets of 2)
48" crossbars
38" or 44" faring (I like 44" better)
Q-102 clips (front towers)
Q-83 clips (rear towers)
SKS Locks (need 4, 1 for each Q tower)
whatever additions you need such as snowboard or bike racks

If you have an aluminum roof, it explicitly states in the owners manual (IIRC) not to use a roof rack.

This is true, but the Yakima Q Towers sit on the body above the doors, not on the roof itself

I would not get the "traditional" type roof racks that bolt onto the roof

Thats exactly what i was thinking when i read this title for this post.

the user/owners manual recommends "NOT" to install any roof racks.

oh well… can't talk sense to some people…

not that i would like to offend anyone here. if i do, i apologise.

But i seriously never understood why people buy a car like the EVO and decide they want to add ugly racks that I'm sure in some way…impede cars performance as well as leave marks+dents in areas to depreciate the cars value…. just for the sake to carry things around. like a surfboard or a kayak. places like that, in which you park the car all day unsupervised.. i definitely would not park my EVO at a beach.

i mean, do they hate their car that much?!

i find it ridiculous, but since people do things like this… I've yet to see someone buy a Ferrari, Lamborghini, Mclaren or a Koenigsegg and put a roof rack or tow bar on it to go camping.
Im eager to see that….

this is why i have a ****-box car on the side to lug things with, and the EVO as the weekend car and keeping it in tip-top show condition.

I have one car; the evo. It's super fun to drive, and I can carry all my sporting stuff around without having to sacrifice anything with the car I choose.

Do you ever go to the mall? The supermarket? Any store? Every time you park, the car is left unsupervised.

Roof racks don't leave any traces if installed properly. Not everyone garages their evo, some people like to put them to good use. For me, that means being practical with my lifestyle

I rarely take it to the supermarket…. someone with a shopping trolley, wanting to get through the gap… you think they would care about your car? (you probably wouldn't care about a, ding or a scratch.. some people do…)

unsupervised, "Secluded" was more so, what i was trying to describe.

some people like to put them to good use, well…like i said, i would LOVE to see someone put one of those cars i mentioned… "To good use"
