Lancer trunk lid

I need opinions and/or advice. My evo has been wingless for some time and like everyone else the holes in the trunk lid drive me crazy. so to make a long story short, I saw a black 2003 lancer for sale and stopped too look. The trunk was in alright shape, besides a few minor scratches and a golf ball sized dent. It matches my car but my concern is, how much it would take to fix. The guy was willing too trade straight for my lid and wing, which is not a big deal because I have two. is this a terrible idea?

Sounds good to me if it was in great shape. Plus I think the trunk bars are softer for wingless on the Lancer. I would trade the complete set up, if that makes sense.

I too have the holes that bug the heck out of me. I'm just going to bite the bullet and weld it the holes shut and have it painted. Sounds like the Lancer trunk you're looking at is going to need body and paint work. Not worth it. Find one in great condition and I'd say that's the way to go.

Thats what i was thinking, the scratches look pretty shallow like they would buff out. Im just not sure about the dent. it's just so hard too find unmolested lids! Especially in the color your looking for.

I wouldn't get involved in anything with a dent that big... it will be just as much money to fix as your wing holes if not more. If you are going to spend money to fix shiat, I'd just buy a new deck and put that money into paint... you are going to have to paint it either way if you are making repairs, might as well be painting something nice. They are stupid cheap, I think I paid like $200 for mine brand new from Mitsu.

I personally paid $300 for welding the holes and respray.

I think I would pass on that deal. Covering it up and respray will be a little more spendy but will probably be more safe. I would just sell what you have and try to get a trunk lid that is being sold on here with the holes already been covered. I'd maybe even go the extra mile to go carbon fiber just for weight savings. I'd think that the lancer trunk would be heavier, I don't know.
