OEM stereo / radio, how many attempts with the code?

Hi guys,

I worked on the car yesterday and left the battery OFF.

After connecting the battery, the Factory OEM stereo was asking for the code.

I realised the code i have was wrong. (the previous owner did not issue the right one)

x2 attempts "ERR2"

Basically, i will have to call Mitsubishi and give them the VIN no# now...

is there one more attempt, until lock?

very interesting

According to the dealership, which i found today.

theres 3 attempts.

and then it locks

after its locked, it required the ignition to be on for total of 2 hours to unlock to the 3 attempt screen again.

3 tried, but it is not a 2 hour lock, it is scaled. Average unlock time is 45-60 minutes, however if you keep locking it and unlocking it can take longer. I have never seen one go over 100 minutes and I"ve unlocked literally hundreds of these.
Calling it two hours is a safe way to make sure your customer doesn't ***** when they are sitting there for 50 minutes and it hasn't unlocked yet.

Also, your VIN won't do shiat to get your code. You need the serial number off the radio chassis.

Clearly the most logical solution to not knowing the code.

Well guys,

I dunno about the USDM model of the IX.

But the 2007 CY model in Australia has a fairly reasonable stereo.

Its a 6 - CD stacker with MP3 Capability.

Although, its a bit behind now. Since its lacking the AUX jack and especially the USB port.

It gives the interior of the car a nice OEM look and has decent sound.

One day if it starts playing-up, i will replace it.

Either, a nice Double-din Sat NAV like the modern cars.

or

Single din with the flip-up LCD screen.. and fill the bottom section with gauges.

Concentrating on the Engine at the moment.
