P0340 code..no camshaft signal!

i just installed a brand new 2.1l shortblock and after firing the car for first time it was sounding like it was misfiring, after that with help from evoscan i found out it was the p0340 code.

this is what it says... ''P0340 No Camshaft Signal at EFI ECU"

whats the meaning of this?

did i miss something when installing the engine, or some sensor maybe?

the coil on plugs also bacame hot.

i need your help please!

maybe try flipping your camshaft position sensor.

the camshaft position sensor is in the right place, i think the cam sensor has gone bad, but also the car isnt getting any ignition in 1 or 2 cylinders.

if the cam angle sensor is bad, will the car still start?

is it possible if a ignition coil goes bad it causes the P0340 code to go off?

Oil is ok on sensor, mine had some on it to. Im having a similar issue are you are, but its throwing the cams sensor and crank sensor at the same time. Strange issue i have is the car starts/runs/drives fine. I just redid the timing (im on a 2.4) and was hoping that would fix it but no such luck. I also swapped out a known good sensor from another car and my car wouldnt even start... However my sensor worked on a friends car... Im so confused by this.
