having problem with my evo 8 oil pressure. just did a motor swap and is stock for the most part now... for now. but at idle oil light tries to come on. i have a slight hole in my dip stick tube about 6 inches from the block. Damaged during shipping. my question is does that have any effect on oil pressure? just trying to cross off the less expensive things first. Thanks stephen!

 

No. Dipstick does not matter. You need the oil pressure switch on the back of the block most likely. I have done them on both of my evos and everyone I know who has had an evo has done theirs as well. Mine started to flicker after installing cams. Replaced it, never seen the light since.

 

or bad oil pump?

 

possible. i was hoping its not bearings. but a switch sounds cheaper. I'm just trying to slim the list down of what it could be to a possible culprit.
