Rhys Millen on Speed
Don't know how many saw SPEED's coverage of the Susquehanna (sp?) Rally, but they interviewed Rhys Millen about his new Evo7.
In the course of the interview he mentioned that
was planning on releasing the car in the US in January...
Was it a slip or a rumor, do you think? He sports the Mits Rally Red paint scheme...

i thought he was driving an evo 8 befor and after the interview. isnt that what he was talking about. Take a look at the car he was driving... it looked very round in the front and i thought the back said evolution viii. Can any one confirm this.
There's no way he could've been using an VIII or at least it's a highly suspect fact. If anything perhaps he was mentioning the Spec 2 Evo VII, same update made by the WRC guys.

actually Rhys drives EVO VII. I know as I race with him.
The more round apperance comes from the Kevlar under body protection that stick out over the front spoiler lip.
Rhys and his guys built the car from scratch this spring. It is a very nice looking car, they did not spare any expense on any of its details.
If you have a chance come to a rally and check it out.

Wow what a fast reply. thnx for the awesome info gplsek. I wish I had the opertunity to race with him. By the way how well can a stock evo 7 keep up in the " amature " rally groups like the ones they have in palmdale? What kind of modifications are nessesary?

oops my whole post did not make it in previous.
The EVO VII is very competetive at the Club Level, with some
very basic mods.
All the safety stuff, CAGE, Race Seats, 6 point belts
Rally suspension, DMS, PROFLEX or OHLINS
you can even swap the ECU to get even more power

About how much does a roll cage cost and does it have to be installed by someone? Also with a roll cage is it still possible to transport up to 5 people in the car? Can you take it out of the car easily? And about how much is the rally suspension? any drawbacks on tarmac?
