Evo lifer? Or....
I came from a DSM. I like my Evo much more today than when I bought it new. It has saved my life at least once. If something saves your life you don't throw it away. Anyway, the new cars today don't come any nearer to being anything like what the Evo was back in 2003. I still feel I have the best car on the road.
The styling of the Evos was ahead of its time too. Not to get into a 8/9 vs X debate, but when I drive past a X I definitely prefer mine more. Doesn't hurt that ours came with the nice projector headlights whereas not all X's come with them which is totally lame for how expensive they are. Rode a few hundred miles in my buddy's X a few weeks ago and there was nothing about it that made me really wish/want another Evo besides my own. I think they got the 8's/9's right. Similar in my book to the 03 Terminator Cobras. Those cars were great in their day and honestly are still great cars and look good.
Edit: I did prefer his dual climate control lol

Got my IX in '08. Tested the X too, but didn't like how it looked or felt compared to my IX. Although the X's have grown on me since then and I wouldn't mind owning one, I still wouldn't get rid of my SE.
I had one kid back then. When my wife told me about the arrival of our third, she suggested we get a mini van. I informed her that no matter what happens, the Evo stays. She understood and stated how she knows I'd be miserable without it. She's a keeper for sure.
I am 41 now, not part of the F&F crowd, but the Evo is really easy to maintain and work on (timing belt, clutch etc.). I just put blizzaks on for the first time for winter and now wish I would have done it years ago. What fun! Lifer? For sure!

Cool story, man.
Great thread!
I'm old now...34. Have owned my IX RS for over 5 years. Not the original owner...but got it with 2000 miles...now with 71K.
I have to say, I've driven some really nice cars recently...including a beautiful 997.1 GT3. I'm sorry...it was disappointing compared to the Evo. Sounded great, nice and low, etc. It just didn't give me that same feeling as the Evo. Granted, I do have 443whp with the Evo...but just the overall sensation wasn't worth trading up. God, did I really say that?!?! haha...
The thing I love about the Evo (and especially the RS)...is that I can doddle around town like a civic, totally unrecognizable...just a slight hummm. But, the second I wanna go fast, it just opens up into a monster.
I really can't see myself selling this. There's not a ding or scratch on it, absolutely perfect interior, bulletproof engine, passes smog no problem, 443whp as a daily driver. Just as excited to sit in it everyday as I was in 2003 at the New York Auto Show.
Enjoy, guys...and take care of these wonderful cars!
