half size radiator?

the Magen rad that was in the car when i bought a few years ago has started springing leaks. its like yellowstone park i tell you! any way in the future id like to to a ff set up so im looking into half size dual core civic radiators. i cant afford the koyo or mishimoto so im looking at the godspeed one or the skunk2 racing ones. so im just curious on everyones thoughts on these 2 options. both are about 160ish give or take a bone or two

Here's a stupid question. You can afford to go forward facing, but you can't afford a proper quality radiator to support that setup?

EBay half rads work perfectly. Just pressure test it when you get it. I've never had one fail on me..

is their any down sides to going with a half rad? My koyo full rad is huge and I was looking to go to a half rad for multiple reasons. 1 my new manifold is way to close to the hose and 2 I will be going FF soon. I daily my evo every day so is their any downside to the half rad?

I've had issues that may have been electrical related, BUT, when I wasn't having electrical issues it worked fine in 95 degree weather.

eBay radiators like other ebay parts (exhausts, O2 housings, etc) are fine.......BUT.

Radiators I would not scrimp on. I'm not saying you need to go get a CBRD half rad (Although they are worth it) but your cooling system is something I wouldn't half ***...........

And yes that means I have a low opinion of eBay radiators.

And whatever rad you do get make sure you get a good fan (with a shroud.......very important).

I was making fun because you said Magen which I assumed you meant Megan which is anything but quality. There was irony in you asking about a company that makes mediocre parts and not getting the name right,

Its the internet. No need to take it so serious.

I just rebuilt my evo1 with half radiator and half condensor. super impressed on how well it cools. and a/c is icy cold. its a split setup like honda civic. I used a ebay civic half radiator and ebay 14in fan. mitsu factory half condensor with spal 12in fan.. cools better than the full size fluidyne w/evo 8 fan and full size mitsu condensor w/spal 12in that was replaced. I attribute this to several things. removing full size radiator removes all that radiant heat the turbo normally attacks the radiator. and split the condensor and radiator, now each gets its own airflow through the core. and the new setup saved 12lbs plus whatever the extra water weighed.

Just based on my experience (which admittedly seemed to be very strange) I ended up buying a fan that moved 1400 CFM. So I would say no but I'm sure someone will say it'll be fine.
