Flickering aftermarket gauges

I have three AEM gauges in a Gruppe S pod. Boost, oil temp, Uego. It's not consistent, but they flicker every once in a while. They've never shut off, just dim. Doesn't matter if I have headlights on, etc. Any ideas? Power is routed to the radio. Should I rewire to cigarette lighter? Is it something else? Anyone else had this problem?

Thanks.

The radio power is pretty solid, that is where I grab power from for every vehicle I've ever installed gauges or other types of electrical equipment... I would doubt that is your issue. The radio is also where I have 3 of my prosport and Zietronix guages powered from... no dimming

Hmmmm. Other thought was alternator or battery, but the car starts up, drives, and powers all accessories just fine. The gauges are the only thing that ever dims. Doesn't happen with headlights, radio, dash lights, etc.

Will it happen if the radio is turned off?

AEM digital gauges have a light sensor and they dim durring low light conditions like when it gets dark out so that way they aren't blinding you

Well, this might be the issue then. Annoying when you live in NorCal and its between low light most days. Haha. Maybe I should try to figure out a way to disable that.

the sensor is the little round dot right below the digital display... cover it with your thumb when there is light out and see if it dims just like it does now. Im not sure that feaure can be disabled though, I have 2 aem gauges in my car and they do it every now and then when its cloudy or when my dark tinted windows are rolled up.

Will check ground, whether it does it with radio on, and auto dim this weekend. Thanks for all the ideas.

Okay. It's definitely the dimmer. Haha. Thanks for the help. Wish that thing wasn't so sensitive.
