Front reinforcement bar

Anybody driving without their front crash beam on their Evo 8/9.

Any type of issue with bumper not lining up correctly and or bumper sagging. Gaps.

Evo 8 and 9 crash beam interchangeable??

I can't confirm if 8 and 9 crash bar interchange. But yeah, my bumper will not sit properly without the crash beam. Last time I hit a dog I was so glad to have that bar in place.

I'm running without a crash beam as I have the Cusco power brace. Haven't experienced any real issue with the bumper sagging, but I did have to do some trimming of the bumper mesh brackets to get the thing sit all the way in as they were hitting my 3.5" IC core.

You running any other mods behind the bumper?

No mods other than a greddy fmic. No interference with crash beam with plenty of play room in between.

Lots and lots of people run with out the crash bar. I do and my bumper lines up just fine with out it. the Evo 8 and 9 bar are both the same. You can also look at the stm bar if your looking for something small. The Front crash bar is only rated for something like 5mph. useless if you ask me

No crash beam on my car and most we've built here since 2003. No issues, lighter=faster.

Can't fit the bumper on with reinforcement bar on. So frustrating.

Car has no frame damage.

The crash bar might not be rated for much of an impact, but I think its stupid to not run one on a street driven evo. Something simple like your car being parked and someone backing into could cause plenty of damage to your front end without one. Lets face it, your FMIC is right there and your looking at minimum $500 for a new one. Why not atleast run the STM bar upfront? I've got one and it drops plenty of weight and its atleast some sort of protection.

Have any of you considered that this so called "crash beam" may be doing more than just protecting a 5mph touch?

I think its likely more of a front frame structural piece that keeps the front frame rails from flexing. No diff than removing the rear beam.

Its like a shoe box, removing the top allows the box to flex

I say keep the crash beam trim if needed rather have it than risk my fmic getting messed up from getting in a accident. It could be the factor of you getting in a small fender bender and getting home or you messing up the intercooler and having to be towed and still having to get a new intercooler.

I like to keep the crash beam on my street cars.

Our 3.0" and 3.5" fit with the crash beam and the 4.0" requires trimming to fit.

Thanks!

Michael

This subject has been beat to DEATH for about 12 years now. All of our FMIC's fit with the crash beam intact on the EVO8-9-X. I still say remove it and save the weight.

For reference the USA is the only country to even have one on the cars.

This is a post i made quite a while ago regarding my bumper fitment issue. As you can see in the thread, there were a lot of reply's suggesting i install my reinforcement bar to correct my fitment issue i was experiencing. As you can see in the pictures, i have a slight sag under the headlight and grill/hood.

I have no interest in weight saving at all. My only goal is to get rid of that bumper sag for a cleaner look. The reinforcement bar i bought does not allow me install my bumper back on due to clearance issue. Upon further inspection and looking at stock crashbeam on the internet, it looks like the one i have bought been cut and re weld for some odd reason. I'll post pictures later and also have a measuring tape from the frame to the end of the bar.

HELP ME FIX MY SAG.

Am I the only one who read this like you run over dogs on the regular?
