Clutch question

Hello everyone,

I am sorry if I'm asking a question that's been asked probably a million times. I apologize for asking it again. I've been on the forum searching and searching and searching about what clutch setup to go with. I finally came to conclusion to go with ACT XTSS clutch kit. My question is after searching for so long I just got more and more confused as far as flywheel goes. A lot of people on the forum say go with an aftermarket flywheel and a lot say keep the stock flywheel. I'm exterimley confused, should go with aftermarket or stock flywheel. Please help me out so I can get my car running again so I can drive it. I really appreciate everyone's input. Thanks in advance.

If you're going to get an aftermarket flywheel you might as well get a twin disc setup. Or resurface your stock flywheel. The heavier the flywheel the more initial torque you'll have, the lighter the flywheel the less. It comes down to saving money or not

What do you mean by more initial torque? I do want to take the cheaper route so I guess I'll resurface my stock flywheel. As far as clamp load the resurfacing won't give me less bite or would it? Thanks guys.

If you drive it daily - stay with stock one, it is much more comfortable to drive it

I had the street light in my evo when I bought it, I recommend staying stock with the flywheel, if the a c is on it ll drive completely different with the light weight flywheel also when engine braking while coming off a off ramp on the highway the whole car has a harmonic that you can feel. Same thing under 2800 rpms the car shakes under load Simply put,,, it's just not right. Stay with the stock flywheel.

A lot of people purchase an OEM TOB for peace of mind. That's a cheap part to have to drop a transmission over. Also, I'm pretty sure the kit comes with ACT's Monoloc collar but you may want to double check.

It does come with the monoloc collar. You know who's sells the OEM TOB other then the dealer? For a bit cheaper? Dealer wants 98 dollars for it.

Try MAP or STM.

Lancer Shop kills it on pricing in my experience.

Get it through Mitsubishiparts.net MR145619

Or go through the same company you are buying the clutch through, if they are Evo people they should have one ready to go with the clutch.
