P0335 and P0340 no flywheel catching?
P0335 and P0340 no flywheel catching?
So one early morning on a cold day with snow on the ground. Tried starting my evo 8 up and was about to start then seemed like poof ... Just was cranking but not turning over. So following just seems like spinning from the starter. Check the codes and got P0335 and P0340. Changed the starter out cause thought that was it but isn't. Attached is what it sounds like right now and appreciate any advice to what it may be. Here is a video of how it sounds:

Check to see if your belt is turning.... if it is not, then the starter bendix is not coming out. If it is, then the timing belt popped and you have no compression.
With the codes set (correlation fault between cam and crank), I'd say your timing belt popped.

If more than a few teeth, yeah you'll be in for head work at least.
Pop the oil cap off and have someone crank the engine while you watch the cams. if they turn then it may have jumped a few teeth and you could technically be OK... not super likely, but possible. If they do not turn, the belt broke/stripped and you'll probably be looking at half a dozen valves at least.

Yeah that is the thing with yours, something is singing there. That fast/high spinning sound is going to be either starter bendix not engaging the flywheel or no compression in the engine which is pretty much going to be timing belt related given the circumstance (technically if you were tuned awful you could flood the engine enough to cause zero compression due to washing the cylinders too).
Any problem with the cam sensor is NOT going to cause your engine to spin over fast like that (where you literally can't hear any compression like you normally hear when cranking).
Did you check the drive belt yet to see if it is spinning when you crank it?
