Move from Las vegas to Virginia "boost" Evo VIII

I know the car need to be retune. But my question is when the vehicle was in Vegas I boosted 26 Psi here it only get to 22psi is this normal? I have a manual boost controller and this morning I log at WOT 20 psi. The car is running rich so I will be installing my wideband very soon to get more accurate data. My friend mentions that when I get on boost a cloud of black smoke come out the exhaust.
Thanx for the help

black smoke with no cat is normal under boost. How do you know that you are running rich without a WB? ALso, if you are in fact running rich and not hitting boost that sounds like a boost leak to me, though it could also be other things.

P.S. where in VA?

some smoke is normal, without seeing a vid it would be hard to gauge it. I know that i barely ever notice it when i'm driving but when friends are behind me they tell me about it.

What's the elevation in Vegas compared to Virginia? And what fuel were you using in Vegas? And Virginia?

Do a boost leak test. You also gained aver 2000 feet in elevation, that will affect your tune and boost, I am not sure if it should affect it that much though.

I'd do the boost leak test first. If there is a large amount of elevation change then yes the MBC will be affected (even though it shouldn't be THAT much) since it doesn't have a way to know and compensate for that change as smarter boost control systems do.
