Anyone else hate using AC?
Driving on the interstate with windows down ceates drag and therefore consumes more fuel / robs power. Do notice A/C makes car sluggish. Never stall since set my idle rpm at 1k. Engine/turbo loves Chicago spring and fall weather plus you can roll up windows so no drag.
It's too hot here to not use it. Its only annoying taking off from a stop, my car is much easier to stall with the AC on thanks to the extra load. Other than that a little extra throttle keeps it going just fine, and the compressor turns off at WOT, so no loss there..
The compressor shuts off under wot conditions?
How am I a master tech and don't know that about my own car lmao
I've always turned of the ac before a pull

I wish it were possible to buy a IX RS without a/c. Can't stand it, never use it, and I daily drove a C3 Corvette (hottest interior temps known to Western Man) without a/c in DC (aka malarial swamp) in the summer and loved it.
Windows down is louder and unnerving, which is what I want. I need this car to scare me, I don't want to get comfortable and careless. August/September can get sweaty if your tint/wind/traffic ratio isn't calibrated, but I don't mind.
Cars shouldn't be an extension of your living room.
I feel the same way; I rarely turn it on I do it seasonally maybe 2-3 times every summer because I hear you are suppose to circulate the refrigerant in the system. Don't now if its true. I wonder if high horsepower evos have any issues, does the a/c gain 150hp...lol.
Also is there a external A/C sold in the market that solely runs like a standalone unit from the engine bay?

Yes, its even adjustable in the ROM for what TPS% you want it to shut off at. I have mine set at 85%
DD status in the midwest for my IX, I'll keep AC as an option. Windows down as much as possible, AC on when raining or on hot humid mornings when heading to work.
I need to be presentable when I'm working so I can't walk in with a sweaty back and wind blown hair. I find that I can roll the front windows all the way down, and the rears about 2/3 down to minimize the air movement inside the cabin, but for the most part I use it to stay looking nice for work.
Seriously, humidity can be a ***** here so I use the AC to help deal with it, especially if the Mrs is with me.

yes I hate using the AC and remove it from almost every vehicle I buy. It gives me bad headaches and makes me very tired so I don't use it. Plus like you said it drains the car from a lot of power and mpg while its on
I'm in the Midwest too and I avoid turning it on all the time. Maybe it's because I used to have an eclipse and that thing barely made it up hills with the AC on. The motor is out right now for a build so i'll probably just remove the AC completely. The girlfriend definitely won't like that though.
ac
It comes in handy when its super hot out, i don't notice the huge drop in performance and my idle is around 1300 so i don't typically have issues. I don't dd the Evo though but i don't notice the difference on my STI either.
