Just kinda wondering if I'm the only one who hates using the AC. Not only does it eat a noticeably larger amount of gas when I use it but it lowers performance so much, it makes the whole car feel different, so I basically haven't used it all summer. Am I the only one?

Any car, especially a little 4 banger, you'll really feel a drop in power with the AC on. This isn't something specific to an EVO.

No I don't hate AC when it's hot out.

 

No this isn't my first car, I know all about it, my first car was a 4 cylinder and could hardly make it up a hill with the AC on but idk why I'm just not a fan of using it at all, just wanted to see if I'm the only one

 

I really never use AC because I hate driving with my windows up. I don't know what it is, but I feel more in tune with the road with my windows down.

 

same here, my windows are down 95% of the time when i drive

 

It's too hot here to not use it. Its only annoying taking off from a stop, my car is much easier to stall with the AC on thanks to the extra load. Other than that a little extra throttle keeps it going just fine, and the compressor turns off at WOT, so no loss there..

 

This is pretty much word for word what I was going to post.

 

I only use it when I have passengers in the car. I don't care about the MPG, it's a sports car...I just care about the performance.

I see where you're coming from... I'll use it if it's ridiculously hot, but I'm in PA so that doesn't happen all that often. And I've stalled a few times while using it not gonna lie lol

 

Very odd... I don't have any issue with using AC at all. How are you guys driving?launch the car at every red light? I doubt the difference is noticeable during city drive.
My car idles, runs, starts from a stop perfectly with or without AC running.

 

Stock cams, still on MAF, stock turbo, and stock final drive are 4 big reasons you don't notice it. My car it was only barely noticeable when it was just bolt ons with the stock turbo. With what I have now, it takes a little extra attention to get going from a stop.

Living in Arizona during the summer with it being 100-110 outside I love the ac.
