Sierra-Sierra's Evo 8

For the SSE team, applying its knowledge and experience from open-wheel racing hastened the learning curve. Team Manager Richard Raeder and his staff went straight to work on the EVO VIII. They started by stripping the chassis and eliminating every ounce of extraneous weight from sound insulation to interior appointments. Richard designed a nine-point cage based on FIA requirements that stiffened the chassis and provided additional safety for the driver. Maciek fabricated the cage out of 4130 chromoly tubing to provide high strength with a minimal impact on weight. The cage included rear kickers that tie in with the braced rear shock towers and additional tubing that leads from the rear shock towers back to the trunk area to serve as wing-stay mounts (this design distributes the downforce of the APR Performance carbon-fiber wing evenly across the trunk area)

As a professional racing team, SSE left little to chance in the quest for time- attack domination. Cosworth Racing’s many years of involvement with a wide variety of motorsports made them a logical source for a powerplant. In the process, they received an added bonus: the technical advice of the team at Cosworth Racing USA. The engine build started with a brand new 4G63 shortblock, complete with Cosworth forged-steel rods, forged-aluminum pistons and stroker crankshaft. This combination increased the displacement of the EVO VIII to 2,235cc. To make the most of the added displacement, a higher- flowing Cosworth CNC-ported, big-valve cylinder head was mated to the 4G63 block.

Taking advantage of the increased displacement, a Garrett GT3582R turbocharger was chosen to provide boost pressure. Relative to the stock turbocharger, the larger GT35R turbo would ordinarily create more boost at the expense of additional lag. However, thanks to the added displacement, this large turbo still provides adequate response.

I love this car. Definitely one of my favorite Evo's of all time. Shame its just been sitting in the corner of a shop for the last 4 years collecting dust and wasting its life away.

Great article! HyperMax Evo, SierraSierra, CyberEvo and Nemo Evo are my favorite, Sierra Sierra is by far the prettiest.

I beg to differ. Evasive Motorsports' Evo is probably one of the best looking besides the cyber evo. But sadly it has also been sitting in the corner of a shop collecting dust for the past couple years.

Same thing has happened with Nemo, dismantled and sitting in a shed somewhere

Nobody likes the Tilton Evo? Engineering and fabrication on that thing is entirely next level

Its a shame we haven't seen anything note worthy from the yanks since SS retired (not that it would be competitive now without another $100K thrown at it), need to up your game lads!

It may have more down force but those extra pieces make the car look retarded in my opinion. The above Evo's definitely look better if we are after appearance.

Kinda reminds me of the Celica in the time attack that I had a front spoiler as big as the rear spoiler. I'm all for function but I could never like that thing. Pure purpose built

All those 'extra pieces' helped it win WTAC 2012 with less than half the power the other cars were running 300kw (400hp). One can only imagine what it could have done with 800-900hp like what Tilton is now packing

Besides, looks 10x better than all the flogs out there with 'stanced' Evo's LOL

i wish they didn't quit on working on the car and try to win the world time attack. The Tilton Interiors Evo has been improved on every year I wish they did improve on theirs as well. Love this vid about the tilton evo.
