Pursuing my first Evo.
try and test drive as many as you can and talk to the owners, you can get lots of clues from them regarding what are the issues, I always appeared dum and ask questions like, so what usually goes wrong with these things with 100k on the clock etc, don't the bushes wear out and stuff, do you ever hear weard noises coming from the drive train, how do you tune this thing is it like software and stuff etc.
Evo 8/9s are great cars, you should try to find a nice stock one or minimal bolt ons. Buying a fully built one is also an option if you find you like those mods which will save you money from labor, etc but be sure to do a compression/leakdown test, get receipts, talk to builder.
