Was quoted a cheaper price for the 9 headlights. The sales person said something about the 8mr headlights having built in HID's, where as the 9 headlights aren't. Just wondering if someone could confirm this. If true, is this the only difference between the two?

 

HIDs on the MR is correct also 9's had an HID option but wasn't standard. 9's are glossy black where as 8 MR's are flat black.

 

Outside of the US (amber blinkers) this is true.

Inside the US, this is not true. MR's had the same finish on their headlights as the standard evos

 

HID aren't standard, im assuming the 9 headlights you were qouted for were non-HID thats why they are cheaper

 

Same finish as in glossy? Standard 8 headlamps are chrome. MR's are black. Do you have a link to some info on this? Every 8 MR I have ever seen must have had swapped headlights.

MR headlights are going to be HID.

Notice the HID connector on the back of this headlight as well as the HID ballast and foglight.

chances are they were all swapped then. all 8's had the chrome headlights in the US regardless of trim model

 

Yup Evo 8 headlights have chrome bezels. Evo 9 headlights have gunmetal/black chrome bezels.
