Might just need to replace sensor? I had a faulty one and it works fine now.

any news? My flickered while I was on a slight up hill one day. But has not flickered in months. The only thing I can think off on mine, is I have a slight leak on the oil pan. Not a drip, but it seems to seep out enough to cause the area around the oil pan to be wet.

I have an appointment to take my car in next Thursday. Just hoping for a clean bill of health and the only issue is the sensor.

The oil light flickering is never normal.

It is a "dumby" light and I believe that oil pressure has to be below ~6psi before it is triggered.

I would highly suggest getting it checked out asap.

Totally agree. That light flickering is definitely not normal. Have that checked out. It could potentially be life or death of your motor.

when i got my evo it had the oil cooler bypassed, and the light would flicker at idle after some highway time. i put a oil cooler back on it, and switched to 10-40 rotella and dont have any more issues.

Ok, maybe i stated it wrong. It only comes on if, say, starting from a dead stop in 1st
without using the throttle and letting out the clutch at idle speed. It will quickly flash on and off when the engine is close to stalling.

I've never seen the oil light on when my Evo engine was running. If I did, the first thing I would do is install a new switch. If that didn't make the light go away I would know I have an engine problem.

Well, the final verdict to the entire oil light flickering is no resolution. The car is not leaking any oil. The oil consumption never changed on the dipstick after 1500 miles since the initial putting the dye in and when they did their diagnoses.

The only thing they recommend is to stop running the break-in oil and go mobil1 and see. Their second recommend is to replace the oil pressure switch.

What's nice was this was all free.
