WELL

I brought the car to an ac shop and they let me know - it was actually the upper line, a cut appeared in it from rubbing against a tab?? So, as far as he can tell the condenser and compressor are actually okay...

just goes on it, then a nut screws on the stud that I broke to hold it down, but not that strong

Maybe you can cut the stud off completely and tap/thread the base then you can put a bolt straight through.
